CHEROKEE BASKETS — HISTORY WOVEN IN ART, through Aug. 19, Cherokee Heritage Center is located at 21192 S. Keeler Drive, Park Hill. The exhibit presents the history of Cherokee basket weaving and features numerous baskets including one that survived the Trail of Tears, as well as baskets of contemporary design. OVERCOMERS RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAM, a support group of people who deal with life controlling problems such as drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling, eating disorders, sex addictions, violence, rage, jealousy and fear, starts at 6:30 p.m. June 22 at the Disabled American Veterans building, 4815 West Okmulgee Ave. Established in 1985, the Overcomers Recovery Support Program offers recovery education and a spiritual pathway in a 90-day workbook. RIDE FOR THE VETS BIKE RALLY, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 23, Muskogee Civic Center’s west parking lot. Live entertainment and vendor displays, bike show and competition. Event will raise awareness and donations for the needs of veterans who get their care at the VA Medical Center in Muskogee and its outpatient clinics. Coordinated by VA’s Voluntary Service, funds raised will be used to purchase items such as non-slip socks, under garments, hygiene kits and transportation for our Veterans.
