— TULSA (AP) — A woman who claimed she was a victim of Hurricane Katrina but was living in Tulsa at the time has pleaded guilty to a federal bank fraud charge.
Authorities say Marina Concetta Yancy, 52, claimed to have lived in Pass Christian, Miss., when the storm came ashore in 2005 and filed a claim that October. Yancy was accused of seeking assistance for food, clothing and shelter.
The Tulsa World reported that prosecutors and the defense stipulated that the Federal Emergency Management Agency lost about $4,400 because of Yancy's claim. She is to be sentenced in April.
The Justice Department says 10 hurricane-related fraud cases were prosecuted in Tulsa and Yancy's case appears to be the last remaining in the Northern District.
