MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) — The former director of the United Keetoowah Band Housing Authority has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for embezzling money from the tribal program.
Federal prosecutors say 44-year-old Earb Kimble was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Muskogee. He also was sentenced to two years of supervision following his release from prison.
Kimble pleaded guilty in June to one count of theft from a program receiving federal funds.
Prosecutors allege he embezzled money from the tribal program from 2002 until 2004.
Kimble's attorney argued at sentencing that Kimble had repaid more than $67,000 in restitution, had accepted responsibility for the crime and deserved a sentence of probation.
Kimble was ordered to report to the federal Bureau of Prisons on Jan. 21.
