Tulsa ex-teacher to plead insanity, lawyer says
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A lawyer says a former Tulsa high school teacher accused of the fatal shooting of his attorney wife will plead insanity as a defense.
John Robert Kastner's lawyer, John Byrd, told a judge Wednesday that he plans to file written notice of intent to present an insanity defense as soon as he can.
Kastner is scheduled for a Jan. 4 trial on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Lori Moon Kastner, 44, a former Oklahoma Supreme Court attorney. She was shot twice in the head June 25, 2008, at their Tulsa home.
Previously, Kastner has blamed his wife's death on an intruder.
