CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) — The Lincoln County prosecutor says a woman was justified when she shot and killed a man who broke into her home near Cushing.
Donna Jackson shot Billy Dean Riley about 12:40 a.m. Friday after Riley threw a patio table through a glass door.
District Attorney Richard Smothermon said Tuesday that the shooting is justified under the state's "stand-your-ground" law and that Jackson was clearly within her rights to shoot.
Authorities have said they don't know why Riley broke into the home. His pickup truck was found stuck nearby with his sister passed out in the seat.
