ANADARKO, Okla. (AP) — Law officers investigating the slaying of pastor Carol Daniels inside her rural Oklahoma church say they have no prime suspect and the leads they've chased have all reached dead ends.
Caddo County District Attorney Bret Burns says he's dismayed by the lack of progress, and Daniels' mother, Charles Etta Dunlap, says she is puzzled by that investigators have stopped giving her updates.
Burns and Dunlap told The Oklahoman newspaper that they want to see the grisly crime solved. Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the media has made it difficult to pursue a suspect because of the details that appeared in news stories.
Daniels' nude body was found in a "crucifix position" near the altar. Her hair had been burned and her head nearly severed.
