SHATTUCK, Okla. (AP) — The third-longest winning streak in high school football history has ended.
Deer Creek-Lamont beat No. 1-ranked Shattuck 16-12 late Friday in the Class C semifinals, ending the Indians' 93-game streak. Shattuck finished 11-1 this season.
Shattuck's last loss came in the 2002 Class C semifinals, when the Indians fell to Pond Creek-Hunter. Shattuck won six straight state titles, tying Jenks for the second-longest streak in Oklahoma history. Morrison won seven straight from 1988 to 1994.
Shattuck's winning streak set a national record for schools that play 8-man football and ranks third on the overall national list, behind De La Salle of Concord, Calif., which won 151 in a row from 1992 through 2003, and Independence of Charlotte, N.C., which won 109 straight games from 2000 to 2007. Both those schools play traditional 11-man football.
