TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police say the death of a 9-month-old boy who was left unattended in a bathtub has been ruled as a homicide.
James Dawson died Nov. 12 after nearly drowning a day earlier at an east Tulsa apartment complex. Police say the boy's mother briefly left James alone while giving him a bath.
Officer Jason Willingham says that the case first was investigated as an accident. He says detectives from the department's Child Crisis Unit later determined the case to be a homicide.
The state Medical Examiner's office has said the boy died from multiple organ failure from lack of oxygen.
