OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A memorial service is being planned for a popular ex-Oklahoma City disc jockey who struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.
Bobby Mirick says his sister, 47-year-old Lisa Mirick, died Tuesday in Savannah, Ga., where she was staying with her father. He says the family is awaiting results of an autopsy.
Bobby Mirick says his sister developed physical ailments from alcohol abuse.
Lisa Mirick worked at stations KATT and KRXO, leaving the latter in December 2003. She moved to KQOB-FM that year and teamed with Ron Benton for the morning show, which became No. 1 in the 25-54 age demographic.
In December 2004, the station went silent for 21 minutes after Mirick had an on-air tirade against Benton.
She quit KQOB in June 2006.
