NOWATA, Okla. (AP) — Nowata County prosecutors have charged a Tulsan with second-degree murder for allegedly killing three people while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Charles Davis Strong Jr. heard the charges against him during a court hearing on Tuesday.
Strong is accused in the deaths of Caney, Kan., residents Kyler Blagg and Amy Blagg, and Alfred Hobbs of South Coffeyville.
According to a police affidavit, Strong had been drinking heavily May 9 when he reportedly drove a car onto U.S. 169, despite the objections of his friend, Brent Radke.
Witnesses say as Strong's car tried to pass a semi, it ran a vehicle driven by 15-year-old Kyler Blagg off the highway.
The teen overcorrected, crossed the center line and hit Hobbs's vehicle head on.
