TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — The mother of a woman who died in a helicopter crash last month is suing the pilot, his parents and a California business.
Darci Scraper and Mark Mahaney died when the helicopter went down near Tahlequah on Oct. 14.
Scraper's mother, Juanita Scraper, filed a wrongful death lawsuit recently in Cherokee County District Court against Mahaney; his parents, James Mahaney and Rene Rozell; Mark Mahaney's estate, and Robinson Helicopter Co. in California.
The lawsuit alleges Mahaney, a licensed helicopter pilot, negligently operated the aircraft, causing the injuries that killed Darci Scraper.
The helicopter left Tahlequah City Airport about 4:30 a.m. that day.
Troopers found the wreckage the next day near a Cherokee County road.
