LAWTON, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma City man has been ordered to stand trial in Comanche County on charges of burning another man to death.
Forty-five-year-old Edward Jackson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 75-year-old L.C. Stern of Altus. He also faces an additional charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
It was not clear whether Jackson has yet hired a lawyer.
Police say the two men had fought over a woman who Stern was trying to take back to Altus with him. Investigators say witnesses told officers that Stern got into his truck and Jackson poured gasoline on it and lit it.
Stern died at a Lawton hospital.
