OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City man has been charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of a 2-year-old boy in Edmond.
Oklahoma County prosecutors on Thursday charged 24-year-old Rico Antwoine Berry in the Oct. 13 death of Jolen Babakhani.
Edmond police say Berry was baby-sitting the toddler while the child's mother was at school. When the woman returned home, the boy wasn't breathing. He died later at an Oklahoma City hospital.
According to a police affidavit, Berry gave conflicting stories to investigators, but acknowledged throwing the child down and punching him in the forehead.
Court records do not indicate if Berry has retained an attorney.
