ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) — A routine traffic stop in Ardmore has led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man suspected of hauling a kilo of cocaine.
Carter County Undersheriff Milton Anthony said Yocidl M. Rohas Ibarra was arrested along Interstate 35 Thursday night by a member of the sheriff.s department motorcycle.
Anthony says Ibarra was originally stopped for speeding on the interstate. During the subsequent traffic violation investigation, Ibarra gave officers consent to search his vehicle. The result was what Anthony described as a brick of cocaine.
A gram of cocaine is the typical amount sold on the street. The street value of Thursday night's seizure is slightly less than $90,000. Also confiscated from the SUV was $1,400 in cash.
Ibarra was booked into the Carter Detention Center on pending drug trafficking charges.
