McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Pittsburg County District Attorney Jim Bob Miller has agreed not to seek re-election as part of a deal involving misconduct allegations against his office.
Miller on Thursday also entered a deferred prosecution agreement on the charge of "barratry," meaning he brought groundless judicial proceedings.
Miller was investigated by a Pittsburg County grand jury after he issued subpoenas that targeted 35 anonymous posters to a McAlester-based Web site. The subpoenas sought the identifies and Social Security numbers of the posters, many of whom posted critical comments about him.
Attorney General Drew Edmondson says it was improper for Miller to issue subpoenas in a criminal case in which he was the alleged victim.
