TULSA (AP) — A Tulsa County jury has convicted a former Tulsa Public Schools principal of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The panel found Vicki Smith guilty Wednesday of the misdemeanor and imposed a $1,000 fine but no jail time.
Smith was accused of encouraging a fight between two boys, then ages 10 and 11, on April 2 at Houston Elementary School. A police affidavit alleged that she removed one boy from class to fight the other boy in a school hallway and didn't intervene until she noticed two visitors observing the fight.
Smith was reassigned following an investigation. Tulsa Public School officials say she retired, effective Feb. 10.
Smith's attorney, Steven Hightower, said Thursday that Smith is considering a possible appeal.
