NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say three people were killed when their car went out of control and struck a tree in northeast Norman.
The names of those killed early yesterday weren't immediately released, pending notification of family members. Norman police said two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene and a third died at Norman Regional Hospital.
The medical condition of a fourth occupant who was hospitalized wasn't known.
Investigators say the accident happened on Rock Creek Road east of 24th Avenue Northeast about 12:19 a.m.
Officers say the car was headed east at a high rate of speed when the driver apparently lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and hit the tree, throwing two of the occupants out.
The crash is still under investigation.
