Cold front to bring heat relief

(AP) — More triple-digit heat is in Oklahoma's forecast, but a cold front will bring showers and cooler temperatures tonight and tomorrow.



The National Weather Service says the cold front stretched across Kansas this morning. It will produce a few late afternoon thunderstorms when it reaches northwest Oklahoma, and more showers are forecast overnight.



The main severe weather threat should be damaging winds, primarily during the evening. After dark, a subtropical moisture plume could lead to locally heavy downpours.



The front will continue south and bring temperatures back down to normal tomorrow. There should be minimal thunderstorm activity in central and southern Oklahoma during the day, but thunderstorms are likely tomorrow night along the Red River.
