NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Cleveland County prosecutors say they'll decide by the end of the week whether to charge a man in the drowning of his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter.
Twenty-nine-year-old Donald Reeser is in the Cleveland County jail on a first-degree murder complaint in last Thursday's drowning of Allie Croom.
District Attorney Greg Mashburn says prosecutors are waiting for information from the state medical examiner and other sources.
The medical examiner says Allie died as a result of asphyxiation by drowning, but it hasn't determined if the drowning was accidental or a homicide.
Police have said Reeser repeatedly forced Allie under water. But the girl's mother says the group had left the water and returned to their car when the child began throwing up water.
