OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Langston University will sponsor new charter schools in Oklahoma City and Tulsa that will open this coming school year.
Oklahoma A&M; regents, who govern Langston, approved the university's contracts with the schools during their meeting yesterday in Tulsa.
The new Oklahoma City school will be known as the Alexis Rainbow Arts Academy and will start with enrollment for kindergarten through grade 6, with plans to add a grade each year.
Kaan Camuz of the Sky Foundation says that group will operate the Discovery School of Tulsa, which initially will be for kindergarten through eighth-grade students. The Sky Foundation already operates the Dove Science Academies in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
The addition of the two schools means Langston now will be the sponsor of three charter schools.
