SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) — Union officials representing Sapulpa police say they believe they've found enough concessions to avoid the layoffs of five of the department's 48 officers.
Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 94 Vice President James Lowry says the union has agreed to $328,000 in budget cuts. He says the cuts include a freeze on scheduled pay raises until at least January.
Other savings include higher health insurance premiums paid by officers, cuts in the operating budget and fewer benefits.
The proposal must be approved by both the FOP membership and the City Council.
