TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A Tulsa County jury has recommended a life sentence with the possibility of parole for a Tulsa man convicted of killing a 13-year-old girl.
Jurors deliberated for about 4½ hours Wednesday night before finding 20-year-old Marquis Bullock guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of Cori Baker.
The girl disappeared from the Union Alternative School on Nov. 9, 2007. After a lengthy search, some of her bones and remains were finally discovered in March 2008 near a paintball course in Creek County.
A medical examiner could not determine the cause or manner of her death.
Prosecutors alleged Bullock killed the girl after picking her up from school, but defense attorneys maintained there was no evidence he was involved in her death.
