OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — After a deadly tornado earlier this year, state lawmakers are examining ways to encourage the use of tornado shelters in mobile home parks.
Members of the House General Government Committee will meet Tuesday to study the issue.
A Feb. 10 tornado killed four people at a mobile home park in Lone Grove and wiped out all but four of the park's 41 mobile homes.
Lawmakers will look at using tax credits or incentives for mobile home park owners to build shelters for parks with a minimum number of occupants.
Among those expected to testify are state Emergency Management Director Albert Ashwood and John Bowman, manager of the Lone Grove Mobile Community.
