MIAMI (AP) — Miami police have arrested three people on first-degree murder complaints for the fatal stabbing of their companion during a home invasion.
Miami Police Chief Gary Anderson said Jake Payton, Jessica Logan and Jarod Logan remained in the Ottawa County jail without bail on Wednesday in the death of Samuel Ellison. They haven't been formally charged, and it wasn't known if they had attorneys.
Authorities believe Payton, the Logans and Ellison broke into a Miami home Monday and assaulted Christopher Piatt and Melissa Bridgewater over a tattoo gun.
Police say Ellison threatened to cut Bridgewater's throat if Piatt didn't tell him where the tattoo gun was.
Piatt told authorities he didn't know what Ellison was talking about and during the fight stabbed Ellison in the chest with a kitchen knife.
