January trial date set for 2 in Oklahoma porn case

SHAWNEE — A district judge in Pottawatomie County has set a Jan. 14 trial date for a former third-grade teacher and an ex-college professor charged with sexually exploiting schoolgirls.

District Attorney Richard Smothermon says Judge John Canavan Jr. set the trial date Tuesday for former McCloud teacher Kimberly Crain of Shawnee and retired professor of early childhood development Gary Doby of Bloomsburg, Pa.

Smothermon says Crain's attorney, Craig Webb, also announced plans to file a motion to move the trial to another county because of the widespread publicity the case has received. Smothermon says attorneys will argue the motion on Dec. 12.

Prosecutors say Crain took photos of young girls while they changed clothes in her classroom and at her home and shared the images with Doby. They have pleaded not guilty.
