Oklahoma City officer wounded in shooting

Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY — Police tactical teams have gathered in northwest Oklahoma City where an officer was wounded when a man walked up to her car and fired several shots into the vehicle.

Capt. Patrick Stewart told The Oklahoman that the shooting Sunday night "a straight ambush."

He says the officer is in good condition. Her name was not released.

No arrests had been made Monday morning.

Stewart says the officer was shot while leaving the scene of a traffic stop where she was called by Oklahoma County sheriff's deputies. He says a young Hispanic man on foot walked up and fired several times into the patrol car.

The officer reported about 10:40 p.m. that she had been shot and asked for an ambulance.
