TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa Zoo Director Terrie Correll says the zoo soon will receive two new female giraffes.
The giraffes will replace one that died last year. One is a 9-year-old from the Santa Barbara Zoo and the other is a 2-year-old from The Wilds, which is associated with the zoo in Columbus, Ohio.
The Tulsa Zoo is buying the giraffe from Columbus, while the animal from Santa Barbara is being donated.
It will cost about $40,000 to acquire and transport the two animals to Tulsa. Zoo Friends Executive Director Keegan Young says a fund drive will be held to raise the money.
