OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Fire officials say three people have been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed part of a vacant building that once housed one of Oklahoma City's all-black elementary schools.
The names, ages and genders of those arrested weren't released Monday.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at the former Truman Elementary School building about 4 p.m. Sunday. Fire District Chief Brian Stanaland says crews never were able to get inside because of the intense flames.
A neighbor reported to investigators that she saw teenagers with fireworks inside or near the boarded-up building, but it wasn't clear whether they were arrested.
Stanaland said Monday the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
The school had been vacant for more than 20 years and was used to store old furniture.
Oklahoma City School District spokeswoman Tierney Cook says plans are to demolish it.
