MIAMI 10, FORT GIBSON 1 — The Tigers (1-1) were held to four hits and hurt itself with five errors. Colton Dorris threw five hits two innings and gave up four hits. No Tiger had more than one hit, the biggest blow being Tristan Johnson’s double. The Tigers play host to Oologah on Thursday
VIAN 11, EUFAULA 0 — Shawn Troutman and Brett Hooper combined on a four-hit shutout in the Ironheads’ season opener. The Wolverines (2-0) had eight hits, led by Denver Coffee, who was 3-for-3 with a triple and Dalton Morris was 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the fourth.
PORTER 18-6, DOVE SCIENCE 1-0 — The Pirates (2-2) swept a pair of three-inning games. Colby Stockton allowed one hit and struck out five in two innings in the opener and was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Devan Welch was 3-for-3 and Weston Arnold added a three-run triple. Tyler Sheridan threw three in the second game, allowing no hits. Arnold had two of the Pirates’ hits in that contest.
OKTAHA 8, BRAGGS 1 — Jordan Webb had 14 strikeouts in the win for the Tigers (1-0). Webb was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a two-run home run. Caleb Shoemake was 2-4 with a double and 4 RBIs.
WARNER 14, OKAY 1 — The Eagles (3-0) scored 10 runs in the first inning. Tim Smithson (3-0) struck out four and was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Cody Coffman was 2-for-3 and Levi Jones had a double and three RBIs.
WAGONER 12, LOCUST GROVE 4 — The Bulldogs moved to 3-2 as relief pitcher Wyat Grooms (1-1) recieved his first win, striking out seven. Grooms was 4-for-4 with one RBI, Bradley Green was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and Dylan Cantrell was 2-for-3.
Grove 8, Tahlequah 2 —Grove jumped out to a 4-0 lead through two innings and never looked back in an easy win over 5A No. 9 Tahlequah.
For the Tigers (0-3, 0-2 District 5A-3), Colby Brittain took the loss on the pitching mound after issuing four runs in two innings of work.
Tahlequah's only offensive output came on back-to-back RBI doubles by Logan Lewis and Austin Riley in the third inning, which helped Tahlequah pull to within 5-2.
Gibson Russ picked up the win for Grove.
STIGLER INVITATIONAL — Lane Stanfield of Stigler shot an 82 and Hilldale’s Chandler Puckett finished second with his 83 and Hilldale and Stigler tied for the team title in the Stigler Invitational at Briar Creek Golf Course in Stigler on Monday.
Six teams played in the tournament. Keys was sixth with a 435. Hilldale’s Jason Allen was third with his 84. Stigler’s Cameron Buckner, Watts’ Tayor Asbill and Hilldale’s Jason Whitlock shot an 87 to round out the individual standings.
FORT GIBSON BOYS 5, CUSHING 1 — Zach Cobler’s hat trick led the Tigers (1-0), who opened up on the road with a win. Two of Cobler’s goals came in the first half as Fort Gibson built a 4-0 lead. Colton Petty and Johan Chavez added the other goals.
FORT GIBSON GIRLS 10, CUSHING 0 — Eight different Lady Tigers scored in the season opener. Jordan Raynor had two and Noelle Payne had two. One of Raynor’s was in the second half after FGHS had built an 8-0 lead.
Kendra Johnson was in goal for the Lady Tigers, who had a 20-0 edge in shots on goal and will yield to the JV this Thursday in a match with Wagoner’s varsity due to FGHS’s involvement in the state basketball tournament.
