Two Conference USA teams are splitting for the Big East, it was learned Tuesday.
Tulane is joining the Big East as a full member in 2014 and East Carolina will also join the rebuilding Big East for football only in 2014, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press.
They will become the fifth and sixth C-USA schools to join the rebuilding Big East in the last two years. Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Texas-San Antonio, Charlotte and Old Dominion will join C-USA in 2013.
In another conference shake-up, the troubled Western Athletic Conference is adding Grand Canyon University to replace the University of Denver, which is bolting for the Summit League after just one year in the WAC.
