TULSA — The Tulsa 66ers topped the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 85-81, on Sunday at the SpiritBank Event Center behind Jeremy Lamb’s 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Lamb, currently on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, scored 13 fourth-quarter points by shooting 5-of-7 from the field to help secure the Tulsa win.
Fellow Oklahoma City assignee Daniel Orton finished with his third double-double of the season, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The 66ers (5-2) trailed 44-34 at halftime before outscoring Rio Grande Valley (2-5) in the third quarter, 28-14. Forward Dominique Sutton fuelled the rally with 13 points on the night, all of which came in the third quarter.
After surrendering 21 and 23 points respectively in the first two quarters, the 66ers held Rio Grande Valley to 14 third-quarter points and outrebounded the Vipers 13-5 in the frame. Tulsa forced a season-high 26 turnovers, including 13 on steals. The 66ers also dished out 19 assists and blocked six shots.
The 66ers return to action with a pair of road games against the Bakersfield Jam on Friday and Saturday.
