MUSKOGEE SPLITS — The Roughererettes (7-10) split their two games at the University of Tulsa Festival on Thursday, beating Catoosa 9-1 and losing 4-1 to Bartlesville.

In beating Catoosa, winning pitcher Laura Fleck struck out five batters in five innings while getting three hits, driving in three runs and stealing three bases. Paige Gann added two hits and Nia Maxwell scored twice.

“We came out and swung the bats well,” coach Keith Coleman said. “Laura pitched a great game and we were consistent all the way through our lineup. Any time your leadoff hitter gets three hits, you give yourself a chance to score runs.”

A Muskogee error led to a four-run third inning in the loss to Bartlesville.

“Our kids played hard, but we were stung by that error,” Coleman said.

CoCo Epps, Jessi Venable, Maxwell and Fleck each had a hit.

Muskogee returns to Rougherettes Park at 5 p.m. today against Oktaha.
