Holiday weekend not absent of rodeo

Tonight the Joe Cooper Ford and Parrish Horse Company Buckle Series kicks off at the Clint Cagle Memorial Arena in Wagoner. This will be a six jackpot series. Format is half-half-half with equal payout. To qualify for the champion buckles you must nominate ($15) and attend four of the six jackpots. The buckles will go to whoever accumulates the most points in each division. In case of a tie in points, a coin toss will determine the winner. Exhibitions begin at 6:30 ($3 each) and the barrel race starts at 8 p.m. ($20). Contact Becky at 706-2749.

Barton Productions has big plans for this Labor Day weekend including a saddle and prize drawpot roping Saturday at the Barton Arena in Warner. The Muskogee Round-Up Club will be holding their final jackpot playday for the 2010 series on Saturday. There are several championships to be determined. Barrel exhibitions begin at 5:30 and leadline at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information go to www.muskogeeroundupclub.com

Blazing Barrel Productions will be adding $2,000 to an open 4-D barrel race Sunday at the Hilltop Arena in Muskogee. Blazing Barrel Productions consists of Josh Huntington, Matt Smith, and Hilary Huntington. They are also the owners of the Premier Trailer Ranch, approximately two miles south of Wagoner on U.S. 69. The race will be run on half-second splits and is Womens Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) sanctioned.

Exhibitions will begin at 11 a.m. ($4 each or 3 for $10) and the open will start at 2 p.m. sharp. Entry fee for the open is $40. They will be using two tractors for the drags (every five runs) and they guarantee good ground. There will also be futurity and derby sidepots. I spoke with Josh on Monday and he said they already had about 100 pre-entries.  

Pre-entry books are open and won’t close until Friday at 5 p.m. No checks – cash only for fees please. The books will close after the 100th horse runs on Sunday. For more information please Call 864-0201 or 845-5557 or stop by the Premier Trailer Ranch!

The Arrington McSpadden All Indian Rodeo Association, Region 8, will be holding a sanctioned rodeo Sunday and Monday at the Tahlequah Round-Up Club Arena.
