Boys basketball

HASKELL 59, HULBERT 49 — Struggling Haskell (9-6) flirted with a fifth loss in their last six games but pulled the game out in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Riders by 20-9.

Dalton Cefalone had 18 points and five steals, Alex Wheeland and Jeffrey Hill had 16 and 13 points, respectively. All three had six points each in the fourth-quarter rally.

Troy Taylor had eight rebounds and four blocks for Hulbert (3-14).

STIGLER 60, EUFAULA 41 — Seth Sandlin scored 24 points, including a 6-of-7 performance from the free-throw line, and the Panthers (6-7) broke it open in the second quarter on their home court, pushing  a 17-15 lead to 38-24 at the half. For Eufaula (5-9), Jeffrey McIntosh had 13 points and Cody Faries had 12.

 

Girls basketball

HULBERT 55, HASKELL 34 — Winning at home, Hulbert (11-6) was led by Allison Arnall with 11 points, Tiffany Thompson, and Lindsey Krueger with 10 and Lindsey Hudson with eight. Haskell (3-12) got 12 points from Sherill McHenry.

EUFAULA 52, STIGLER 29 — The Lady Ironheads (11-3) broke it open in the third as Katie Smith scored nine of her 11 points in a 16-8 push after her team led by only three, 18-15, at the half. Alyssa Banks edged her for high-point honors with 12. For Stigler (6-8), Mackenzie Maxwell had nine.

 

Wrestling

CATOOSA 43, FORT GIBSON 30 — The Tigers struggled at the lower weights and its rally late fell short. They also gave up a forfeit at 285 on the final match.

Winners were Tanner Enger by pin at 150, Logan Wood by pin at 160, Nick Bailey by pin 1t 182, Victor Velasco by major decision at 195 and Alec Litzinger by forfeit at 220. The closest battle in the early weights was an 8-3 decision that Tony Dye lost at 126. The Tigers were pinned three times and lost two major decisions and on a technical fall.  In an exhibition match on Senior Night. Jacob Wall battled in a non-points match and lost.

MUSKOGEE STREAK ENDS — Muskogee’s streak of dual state titles ended with its 28-26 loss to Sand Springs on Tuesday, which wrapped up the district title on Thursday against Jenks.

The Roughers have been dual state finalists the past three seasons.

On Tuesday, Sand Springs won the final four matches, including a pair of overtime wins at 152 and a triple-overtimer at 170. No other details were available.



Swimming

FORT GIBSON SHINES — In a three-way with Tulsa Edison and Tulsa Memorial, the defending Class 4A champion Lady Tigers were particularly strong.

Fort Gibson’s girls won three relay events,  the 200 medley (Whitney Stroup, Leslie White, Hali Martin and Hunter Jaynes), the 200 freestyle (Kyla Martin, Jaynes, White and Hannah Cantrell) and the 400 freestyle (Stroup, Kyla Martin, Hali Martin and Cantrell).

Hali Martin won the 200 freestyle with Jaynes in second and also captured the 100 butterfly. White won the 200 intermediate, just ahead of  Stroup and Kimber Goodwin.  Cantrell and Kyla Martin were 1-2 in the 50 freestyle. Stroup was tops in the 400 free. Cantrell, Jaynes and Kyla Martin were 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle.

Kinsey Cook, Kimber Goodwin and Audrey Ross were 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke and White and Kadrian Shelton were 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke.

On the boys side, Cody Springfield won the 200 intermediate, Brandon Walker and Tyler Yaussy were 1-2 in the 200 free and Walker also won the 100 free. Martin and Yaussy were 1-2 in the 400 free, Dalton Martin was second in the 100 breaststroke and Myles Wood second. Wood edged teammate Colby Livingston for second in the 100 backstroke.
