In his second year as the team’s head coach, Coppedge took the Pirates to a 10-0 regular season mark and the school’s first-ever district title and first-round playoff victory before losing in the second-round to eventual state finalist Canton.

Resurrected the award not given since 2001. Was a three-time District A-6 Special Teams Player of the Year in spite of numerous injuries, including a broken left foot his freshman year. As a sophomore, he was clipped and the blow to his back injured his spine and resulted in a concussion and a split femur as a junior that after three surgeries, forced him to lose most of his senior year.
