TAHLEQUAH — Northeastern State University golf coach Scott Varner announced the signing of five freshman and two transfers to national letter-of-intents.
The five freshman are Zach Tucker of Putman City North, Cody Reed of Edmond Santa Fe, Brad Hager of Bartlesville, Jonas Granel of Hamburg, Germany and Will Hogan of Australia.
The two incoming sophomore transfers are Kelsey Kirkpatrick from Golden, Texas, who played at Arkansas State University and Shelby Stavely from Sallisaw, who played at Harding University.
“These are all high character kids, who we expect to do very well here,” said Varner. “I’m real excited about this class. It’s probably the best class we’ve signed since I’ve been here.
“Again, you’re looking at past results on paper and tournaments. They have to come here adjust to the college game and college life. That’s a lot in golf and in any sport. Golf is such a mental game and a game of confidence.
“But we expect them to do very well here,” said Varner.
