TAHLEQUAH — Nationally ranked West Texas A&M; scored two first-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over Northeastern State in a Lone Star Conference men’s soccer match Sunday afternoon on the RiverHawks pitch.
The Buffaloes spoiled the RiverHawks Senior Day by scoring in the first three minutes of the match. Collin Bsostad scored on a header after taking a cross from Lance Parks at the 2:22 mark. West Texas increased its lead to 2-0 when Nicki Nielsen scored on a pass from Victor Olivares at the 24:50 mark.
The final Buffaloes goal came at 83:53 when Abel Olivas hit the back of the net from 25 yards out.
The RiverHawks close out the season 9-10-0 and finish Lone Star Conference play 1-5-0. West Texas improves to 14-1-2 and 4-0-2.
West Texas A&M; took 21 shots in the match with RiverHawks’ goalkeeper Matt Murrell making seven saves. The RiverHawks took 8 shots and Buffaloes’ goalkeeper Sebastian Furness made 4 saves.
