WARNER – Connors State got its second win in less than a week over Bacone’s Junior Varsity, beating the Lady Warriors 90-35 in the opening round of the Cowgirls Classic here Friday night.
Northark, Arkansas played Oklahoma Baptist University’s JV in a late game. Connors meets OBU today at 2 p.m. while Northark plays Bacone at noon.
Former CSC women’s coach Monte Madewell and a recent inductee into the NJCAA Hall of Fame will be recognized between gam. Former Connors players – many of whom played for Madewell – will also be recognized as part of "Alumni Day."
The Cowgirls, led by Magen Roth’s 17 points, led 53-34 at intermission. Bacone managed only 11 points in the second half. They had 19 turnovers in the period.
Shannon Smith chipped in with 12 points and Necia Smith had 10 for Connors as all 10 Cowgirls on the roster played and scored.
Brianna Byers had 10 for Bacone.
