lose in soccer
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State scored three first half goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Northeastern State Sunday afternoon in a Lone Star Conference men’s soccer match on the Mustangs pitch.
The RiverHawks fell to 8-8 for the season and 0-4 in LSC play. Midwestern State improved to 13-1-3 and 4-0-2 in the LSC. Tyler Murphy and Nick Auditore, who scored two goals, gave the Mustangs a 3-0 advantage at the end of the first half.
Northeastern State’s only goal of the match came at 82:23 when Alex Novoa off a corner kick from Zach Schmoker scored.The Mustangs closed out its scoring at 8741 when Casey Hibbs scored on a cross from the right wing by Bryce Taylor.
RiverHawks goalkeeper Matt Murrell made 11 saves in the match, while Mustangs keeper Raul Herrera had only 1 save as the RiverHawks took just four shots and the Mustangs 31.
The RiverHawks resume action Tuesday night when they visit Oral Roberts University at 7 p.m. in Tulsa.
NSU women lose
in season finale
TAHLEQUAH – Eastern New Mexico scored a second-half goal to defeat Northeastern State 1-0 on Senior Day soccer action on Sunday afternoon at the RiverHawks’ pitch.
The RiverHawks close out the year 5-11-1 and 1-8-1 in Lone Star Conference women’s play. The Zias improve to 9-10 and 4-6 in LSC play.
The Zias’ goal came at the 81:58 mark when Samantha Lawrence scored her seventh goal of the season on an assist by Tasha Caulder.
Northeastern State goalkeeper P.J. Davis made three saves in the match as the Zias took eight shots on goal. The RiverHawks fired five shots on goal.
The victory snapped a two-game skid for the Zias against the RiverHawks. The RiverHawks lead the series with Eastern New Mexico 4-3.
