It came down to the last ride on Sunday to determine the winner of the Professional Bull Riders event in Anaheim, Calif. With a final round ride of 89.5-points, Guilherme Marchi edged out Checotah native Austin Meier for first place. Marchi earned a total of $43,075 for the win and moved from 26th to third in the BFTS standings with 1,032 points. Austin was the only other rider to ride all four of his bulls on the weekend. He moved from a share of 32nd in the BFTS standings to fifth with 899.5 points.

The BFTS’s next stop is the Portland (Ore.) Invitational at the Rose Quarter on Saturday and Sunday. The BFTS features the best, highest-paid bull riders on the planet, including current PBR World Champion Silvano Alves, who reached $1 million faster than any rider in history, earning $1.8 million in his first 18 months.

Bushwacker is recovering well after his successful surgery to remove bone fragments from both his back fetlocks. The initial surgery was planned for only his right back leg, but they decided to also remove a small fragment from his left fetlock in order to prevent any further problems from occurring.  The lack of a larger incision means Bushwacker could be back in competition in two months rather than the four to five months recovery would have taken if he also had to heal from extra tissue damage.
