Tonight’s basketball action will shift from normal start times at many venues, due to the conflict with the Cotton Bowl football game between Oklahoma and Texas A&M.
Those changes start at Ron Milam Gymnasium as Jenks comes to Muskogee for 5 p.m. (girls) and 6:30 p.m. (boys) varsity starts, a full hour ahead of the customary 6 and 7:30 starts. Muskogee’s girls come in 5-1 and ranked No. 9 in Class 6A in the Okrankings.com coaches poll. Jenks is not ranked on the girls side, but brings a No. 6 ranking against the unranked MHS boys.
Four other matchups have adjusted start times: Wagoner at Catoosa will go with girls at 2 p.m. and boys at 3:30 p.m., Oktaha will play host to Henryetta in a 3 p.m. girls tipoff and 4:30 for the boys. Others are Gore at Vian (4:30 girls, 6 boys) and Heavener at Stigler (5:30 girls, 7 boys).
Okmulgee at Hilldale, Okay at Warner, Hulbert at Sallisaw Central, Webbers Falls at Gans and Locust Grove at Keys remain the same (girls 6:30 p.m., boys 8 p.m.).
Just as Fort Gibson and Jay did Thursday, two other matchups are abandoning Friday altogether. Sequoyah will play host to Cascia Hall at 3:30 p.m. (girls) followed by the boys at 5 p.m., and Tahlequah at Bishop McGuinness tip at 6:30 and 8 on Saturday with the girls playing first.
All scheduled JV games will make the same shifts.
