NSU SPLITS —Northeastern State won the second game of a road doubleheader Friday, 6-4, to gain a split with Texas A&M-Kingsville.;

The RiverHawks are tied with the Javelinas (11-11, 15-13) and Angelo State for sixth place in the Lone Star Conference. NSU (11-11, 13-15) lost the opener, 6-2.

In that second game, Noah Ringenberger’s two-run single in the ninth inning lifted the RiverHawks to the win, driving in Tyler Brewer and Greg Jackson. Ringenberger and Angel Hernandez had two hits each, while Chris Sprick hit his fourth home run of the season for a 2-1 NSU lead. Josh Walker got the win and Jason Travis earned the save.

In the opener, A&M-Kingsville; jumped out to a 4-1 lead after four innings. Eric McKinney had two hits for NSU.

The two teams play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today.

OKTAHA, GORE AT PRESTON FESTIVAL — The Class 2A No. 1 Oktaha Tigers (3-1) bounced back after Thursday with two wins at Preston Festival on Friday, beating Davenport 12-4 and Porter 11-0 on the run rule.

Cameron Proctor (1-0) was the winning pitcher against Davenport and he also had three hits including a two-run home run in the first inning. Proctor struck out 10 and scattered six hits. Cale Elam added two hits including an RBI double.

Jordan Webb (1-0) picked up the win, struck out four batters and didn’t give up any hits in the win against Porter. The Tigers scored 10 of their runs in the first inning. Webb slugged a three-run home run, Elam hit a two-run homer and Daniel Hayes added a solo homer — all in the first inning. Proctor added two hits and an RBI triple.

Oktaha split its two games Thursday, beating Watonga 6-0 after losing 12-1 to Sperry.

Hayes struck out 12 batters and tossed a no-hitter to beat Watonga. Derek Skinner had a home run and two-run single. Dalton Perry had three hits including an RBI double. Elam was the losing pitcher against Sperry as the Tigers gave up seven unearned runs in the second inning on six errors.

Oktaha plays at Wister at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Meanwhile, 2A No. 7 Gore (4-4) also split its games, beating Drumright 9-3 after losing 9-1 to Red Oak.

In beating Drumright, Logan Andrews and Jordan Stout each had three hits and combined for four RBIs. Devan Rinheart tossed a one-hit complete-game victory and struck out seven batters. Justin Thomas had two hits and drove in a run and Colton Clay scored the Pirates’ only run in the loss to Red Oak.

Gore plays at Roland at 3 p.m. Monday.

Braggs (7-5), missing four starters, lost both games of a twinbill, losing 11-5 to Davenport and 10-4 to Henryetta. Cody Grant (1-2) was the losing pitcher in striking out seven batters against Davenport. He had a double, a home run and drove in thee runs. Jim Larchey added three singles.

Grant had a two-run home run, his fifth of the season, for one of his hits against Henryetta and drove in two runs. Marcus Daily had two hits including a triple. Braggs plays at Hulbert at home at 4 p.m. Monday.

In other festival action, Porter lost 15-6 to Stroud.

HILLDALE AT COLLINSVILLE TOURNAMENT — 4A No. 6 Hilldale (5-4) lost both of its games, falling 6-4 to Byng and 13-3 to Bixby. The rest of the tournament, scheduled for today, was canceled because of the threatening weather.

In the loss to Byng, Jarrard Poteete slugged a three-run home run and Dylan Farley (1-1) was the losing pitcher. The Hornets’ Taylor Capps (2-1) took the loss against Bixby as Hilldale gave up seven runs — five of them unearned — in the the sixth inning.

Hilldale plays at Skiatook at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
