GULF SHORES, Ala. — Andrew Arnold scattered five hits and struck out three batters as the Fort Gibson Tigers dumped Baldwin County 11-0 in the Baldwin County Home Run Classic on Tuesday. Ranked No. 1 in the Okrankings.com Class 4A coaches poll, the Tigers improved to 8-0 in winning by the run rule after five innings.
“We played well. The kids are having a good time and showing a lot of class,” coach Randy Smith said. “They’re having fun with the tournament.”
The Tigers had nine hits, led by Bryan McClellan’s second-inning home run. Jake Greer slugged a bases-loaded double in the first inning, but was thrown out at third base in trying for a triple. Arnold helped his own cause with two RBIs. Kacy Cook added two hits and an RBI.
Fort Gibson jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning.
“That set the tone for us,” Smith said.
The Tigers added their other five runs in the fifth.
