OKAY WINS TOURNEY – The Okay Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 15 in the Class 4A Okrankings.com coaches poll, won the championship game of the Okay Tournament against Verdigris 25-18, 25-17, and 25-18 after defeating Wagoner, Chouteau, Westville, and Salina.
Miesha Gordon had six kills and three aces, Bristen Graves had 10 kills and seven blocks and Brooke Long had 24 assists. Brittany Adams had seven kills and 10 digs, she was also named the All-Tournament MVP. Courtney Smith, Graves and Gordon were named to the All-Tournament team.
Okay (15-2) play at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Chouteau.
Softball
FORT GIBSON SPLITS – The Fort Gibson Lady Tigers, ranked No. 14 in 4A, split a doubleheader at the TU Festival. In their first game, Caitlyn Craig pitched a complete game shutout allowing only one hit and striking out five as Fort Gibson defeated Inola 9-0.
Kristin Freeman,Michaela Gibson, and Bailey Gauntt each had two RBIs. Cheyenne Johnson and Ashley Nevitt each drove in one RBI.
In the night cap, the Lady Tigers fell to Yukon 4-1. Craig was the losing pitcher giving up four runs on six hits and striking out three. Fort Gibson scored their lone run after a lead-off double by Julia Hill, Craig moved her over to third base on a sacrifice fly, Hill then scored on a error by the second baseman.
Fort Gibson (10-6) plays at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Stilwell.
