BROKEN ARROW – Northeastern State men’s golf team is in seventh place following Monday’s opening round of the 14th Annual NSU Golf Classic, held at the par-72, 6,935-yard Emerald Falls Golf Club.
The RiverHawks shot a team score of 309.
Washburn leads the field at 293 with a one-stroke lead over Southwestern. Arkansas Tech and Newman University (298) are tied for third.
NSU’s Jacob Bartel and Brent Williamson are tied for 11th after firing 1-over-par rounds of 73. The other NSU scores include Zach Tucker (75), Hilldale ex Jordan Perceful (77) and Jonas Grandel (77), Josh Strimple (79), Michael Varner (79), Kyle Fouts (80) and Jackson Hess (82). Williamsson, Tucker, Perceful and Strimple are playing as individuals.
