Muskogee Round-up Club barrel series begins tonight

The Muskogee Round-Up Club will begin its 8-jackpot barrel series tonight. Exhibitions ($3/each) will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the jackpot ($20) at 8 p.m.

The format of the jackpot will be half-half-half with equal payout. There will be a $10 nomination fee if you wish to accumulate points toward series-end awards. High point for the series will be awarded a customized pulling collar, first place in each division will receive a customized leather headstall, bronc halters to second place and checkbook covers to third place.

They have also decided to add a 3-Division 11 and Under youth barrel race. The entry fee for the youth class is $5 with 100% payback – no office charge for them.

The format will be 3-D with full second splits. There will not be a nomination fee – only enter five of the eight jackpots for awards.

Saturday evening, the Muskogee Round-Up Club will be holding its second jackpot playday in the 2011 series. Exhibition barrels begin at 5:30 p.m. then all Leadline classes at 6:30 p.m.

After the Leadline, they will continue with all age groups of barrel racing then polebending and on through the rest of the events. Entry fees are $5 with $3 jackpotted back in the payout. If you wish to accumulate points for series end awards, there is a $5 nomination fee, otherwise you do not have to be a member or nominate to enter. Everyone is welcome. There is no admission charge at the gate, so if you want to come out and watch – they would love to have you.

The Regional Pro-Bull Riding Series Finale will be held on May 14 at the Fort Gibson Round-Up Club arena. There will be $500 added to the open bull riding. The entry fee for the open is $60.

They will also be accepting eight 14 and under steer riders (entry fee $35) and twelve mutton busters (entry fee $20.) The awards will be presented that night after the bull riding.

The Checotah Round-Up Club has just started a new Tuesday night barrel series. This one will run through July. Complete information is posted on www.barrelhorseworld.com.

There are several team ropings and practices scheduled for Rangeline Arena between Warner and Checotah. You can visit them on Facebook to see all that they have to offer.

Don’t forget to check the dates on your Coggins papers before you start hauling your horses to events. As required by state law, you have to have a negative testing dated within one year with you when you haul.
