State college basketball roundup

OU women 69, Kansas 54

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Courtney Paris had 15 rebounds and nine points, failing to score in double figures for only the second time in her career, and Amanda Thompson helped pick up the slack with 16 points in No. 2 Oklahoma’s 69-54 victory against Kansas on Saturday night.

Paris, a 6-foot-4 senior, tied her career low in scoring and played 26 minutes. The Big 12’s leading career score was 3-for-7 from the field for the Sooners (22-2l, 10-0).

The Sooners kept giving up good looks to Kansas, but the hapless Jayhawks hit only four of their first 28 shots, missing time after time from nearly point-blank range before warming up in the second half. Danielle McCray had 23 points for Kansas (13-10, 2-8).

It was the 18th victory in a row for the Sooners and their 11th straight over Kansas.

Paris failed to get a double-double for just the sixth time in 124 games. But the All-American had two blocks, marking the 36th time in her career he’s blocked at least one shot.

With Paris on the bench taking her first breather in the first half, Nyeshia Stevenson scored six points in a 9-2 burst.

Jarvis, a 5-foot-11 guard who averages 17 points per game, was 7-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-8 on 3-point shots. Marcus Lewis added 14 points and nine rebounds for Oral Roberts (13-13, 11-3 Summit League), which swept the two-game season series from the Jaguars.
