Katie Metzger and Melissa Wright of Okay High School have another honor to share.
The Lady Mustangs’ teammates were named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Volleyball Team on Friday and will play in the all-state game this summer on Tuesday, July 28 at Jenks High School at 6 p.m.
Both were chosen to the All-Phoenix Team earlier this week with Metzger named the Most Valuable Player. Metzger had 101 serving aces, 129 set attempts and 370 kills, while Wright had 117 serving aces, 59 set attempts and 174 kills.
Okay finished the 2008 season at 27-9 after losing in the Class 4A state quarterfinals in coach Pete Gutierrez’s last season. Gutierrez is retiring after 34 years as coach, 16 of which were at Okay.
