OKTAHA — Steve Holzkamper did something only one other person has been able to do over the last six weeks, outrun Bixby’s Greg Skaggs.
Holzkamper held off last week’s winner, Muskogee’s Charley Randolph II, to capture the 5th Annual Thriller Modified A-Feature win, leading the last seven laps of the race while taking the win.
Dennis Slader put the exclamation point on his Economy Modified points championship as he outdueled Glenpool’s Jake Kelley for his third A-Feature win of the 2008 season.
The pair were locked in an epic battle for nine of the 20 laps as they traded paint and positions until Slader edged Kelley on the last lap in turn four. At the finish line, mere feet separated the two.
Boynton’s James Gillean smoked the competition as he won the Pure Stock Thriller A-Feature.
Russell McClain pulled in a distant second and Westville’s Cole Younger picked up third.
Gillean lead all 20 laps and increased his career wins total to 34.
Spiro’s Brookin Stephens lead picked up his second consecutive Hobby Stock Thriller A-Feature win. Stephens also capped off a torrid run to end the points season with three wins, earning his first Hobby Stock points championship.
