Northeastern State University’s men’s and women’s golf team wrapped up tournament competition Tuesday and the men finished fourth in the 10th Annual NSU Golf Classic at Broken Arrow’s Emerald Falls Country Club, while the women took third in the Bubba Watson Invitational at the Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla.
NSU’s Sam Powell finished sixth in the medalist standings with a three-round total of 217. He shot a 1-over par 73 in the first round and 72s in the second and third round.
NSU finished with an 890, nine strokes behind Abilene Christian (881) for the team title.
Meanwhile, in Florida, NSU’s women’s team finished with a 649 to place third at the Bubba Watson Invitational. University of Montevallo was first with a 645 and St. Edward’s took second at 647.
Katie Miller led the RiverHawks and finished in a tie for second place with a 158. Miller shot a 77 and 81 in her two rounds.
Stephanie Bird of NSU was in a three-way tie for fifth (81-80—161), while Hilldale gradLiz Cagle was in a four-way tie for eighth (83-80—163).
NSU’s men play in the St. Mary’s Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, starting on Monday. The women play in the Oral Roberts Invitational on Oct. 6-7.
